Lisa, Mommy of two sons  Riley and Brennan

How old are you now and how old is/are your munchkin(s)?
I am 23 years old (08/26/1985) Riley is 4 years old (10/06/2004) Brennan is 6 months old (05/22/2008)

If you could describe your child in 3 words, what would they be?
Riley is a very strong willed, stubborn 😛 and caring child
Brennan is a snuggle muffin who is very determined and relaxed

What’s an average day like for you these days?
Well an average day for us is pretty busy not much time to rest but nearly  every minute is jam packed with fun and surprises. The boys are up for around 7:30, they are/get changed, diapered, cleaned. then it is breakfast for Riley usually blue berry pancakes and Brennan is nursed, My daycare kids arrive around 8:00am they will come and play inside or outside/ do an activity, arts and crafts, baking, sometimes home work and then Riley and the daycare kids are brought to the bus stop and sent off to school. Brennan has some cereal around 9 usually mixed with his newest food he has been introduced to (pears right now) then we have lots of play, songs, changes, and naps until we get Riley from the bus at 12. Riley eats lunch at 12:30 then Brenny poo has sweet potatoes and carrots at 1 and we will go outside, color, work on numbers, colours, letters, play, and nap, and often do some errands until 3:50 when the daycare kids are done school. Riley and the kids have snack and repeat morning activities and then go home at 4:30 then dinner is made and eaten, baths are given sometimes a little TV, baking, arts and crafts, play and errands then bed time at 7:30 for Riley Brennan has a nap at 7:30 but is up again from around 8pm-10 then  a last feeding and he is asleep until around 2am for another feeding  and then 4-5am for another and we start all over 😀

If you had a day all to yourself (kid-free & lottery-financed), how would you spend it?

Hmmmm probably a spa, shopping, out to dinner with friends I have not been able to spend much time with in the last couple years , probably a pretty simple relaxing day 😀

What would you say your parenting style is like? I am very much into attachment parenting and child led parenting until a certain age, I feed Brennan on demand and will nurse as long as we are both comfortable, we try to be clothies And as organic as we can, I am strict with Riley at this age because I believe a child at a certain age and maturity level need limits and rules, we use time outs for discipline and believe communication is the key on both ends. We try to have as many activities, fun and positive reinforcement as much as possible. And so far it has been working for us 😀 truelty I believe, you can never have enough love and kids need room to grow.

What do you feel you have enough of in life?  I believe we have plenty of love , care, and communication

What do you want more of? Space, our house is 1400sq ft but we have allot of stuff and I cannot wait until we build our house 2009-2010

Less of? hmmm  I can’t really think of anything

How “blended” is your family? Are you still with the dad(s) of your kid(s)? Who has whose last name in the family? Our family is quite blended, Both boys are my biological babies , Riley is not Chad(my husband’s) bio dad but has been his father figure since he was 1 and a half years old. Riley’s bio father is not a suitable father or figure for him in any way and after yrs of abuse I left Riley’s bio father and he and his family have made no effort to be in Riley’s life at all. Chad is Brennan s bio father and             Chad and I were married August 31st 2008

What are some of your big pet peeves? Poor hygiene, bad /careless drivers, selfishness.
What are the most unique things about yourself? hmm I can be very creative and outgoing and I am, told easy to talk to and understanding
and finally, what’s your writing/blogging history and style? I don’t think I have a particular style. Throughout high school I blogged but only a couple of times since then so I’ve got to get back into the groove of things 😀

My brother & i

Her kiddo is… Hailey
Hailey 2 months

Her location is… Montreal, Quebec, Canada

How old are you now and how old is/are your munchkin(s)?
I turned 22 on August 9th, and my daughter was born on august 30th and that makes her 3 months old.

If you could describe your child in 3 words, what would they be?  happy, intelligent and beautiful.

What’s an average day like for you these days? I wake up between 8 and 10 depending on when hailey starts tossing around. (she sleeps in my bed) We play for a little while in bed until she starts getting grumpy cause shes hungry. Then she eats, we play, she falls asleep and thats pretty much repeated all day with a bunch of diaper changes until its bed time. I try to get her to bed around 8:30 but that just about always fails. Usually she starts getting tired whiney around 9 and if i dont manage to get her to fall asleep quickly enough then she’s up and whiney until whenever she gets exhausted enough which is usually between 11 and 1am. Sometimes she wakes up for a quick feed around 5am but thats been happening less often now.

If you had a day all to yourself (kid-free & lottery-financed), how would you spend it? I’d go shopping in the morning and id probably end up buying more stuff for my daughter then myself. (i seriously cannot enter a store that has toys/baby clothes without getting her something) In the afternoon id go get a massage and facial with my mom and sister. Id take my whole family out for supper at a super nice restaurant, and then id rent out a movie theater so we can watch a movie at the theater without having to listen to ppl talk and cell phones go off. After that i’d probably want to go get my daughter as quick as possible because i have a hard time leaving her for a few hours, i dont think i could handle a whole day! (though i guess that might change when she gets a bit older)

What would you say your parenting style is like?  So far, i think i’ve been pretty easy going. I go nuts though when random ppl touch her, i absolutly hate when a total stranger passes by and either touches her face or grabs her hands. (she just about is always sucking on her fingers) She’s been breast fed since she was a little over a day old. (i couldnt at the begining because of some meds i was on and i couldnt move my arms) She eats a bit of rice cereal every morning, i don’t necessarily believe that food should be put off until 6 months. She had just about all the signs that she was ready to eat at around 2 months old. (it gets pretty hard to breast feed her sometimes because she always wants to stop eating to chat & she doesn’t push the food out of her mouth with her tongue) She wears cloth diapers most of the time and i absolutly love them. The times she doesnt wear them is because i was too lazy/tired to wash them the previous day. I don’t believe in spankings in my opinion its too easy to get carried away, and also too easy to take it a step above just spanking. Hopefully she will be able to learn through positive reinforcement and time outs.

What do you feel you have enough of in life? What do you want more of? Less of? I definitly have enough love and support. I wish i could have a tiny bit more money and another baby someday. and sometimes i wish i had less responsibilities.

How “blended” is your family? Are you still with the dad(s) of your kid(s)? Who has whose last name in the family? I’m still with Haileys dad but he lives in the states and i live in canada so its pretty complicated. She has his last name.

What are some of your big pet peeves? People who drive like idiots and ppl who park on the sidewalk. seriously makes no sense to me that they think its okay for them to do that! oohh and ppl who are always late.

What are the most unique things about yourself? I seem to like complicated things. I put everyones feelings and needs before mine. and i have no more gallbladder!

And finally, what’s your writing/blogging history and style? Throughout most of highschool some friends and i had a blog. We’d make stories with pictures, write about our lives. Was lots of fun. I have a pretty bad writing style, i make a ton of run on sentances, use crappy punctuations, dont use capital letters, im probably a grammar freaks nightmare, sometimes i write stuff that makes no sense to anyone but me, but i get to blame all that on the fact that im french.

Blogging Mommy is… Andrea
Her kiddo(s) is/are… Malik and unborn baby
Her location is…
Montana

How old are you now and how old is/are your munchkin(s)? I am 18, Malik will be 3 in a month and I am 15 weeks pregnant with baby #2

If you could describe your child in 3 words, what would they be? intelligent, unique, exhausting

What’s an average day like for you these days? For the moment our days are filled with nothing but hanging out together at home. We are waiting for tons of appointments to come up and until then we have nothing going on.

If you had a day all to yourself (kid-free & lottery-financed), how would you spend it?
Three words. Shopping, shopping, shopping.

What would you say your parenting style is like?
I would say I am really strict about specific health related things, nutrition for example is something I go crazy over. My son has never had pop, fast food or any junk.

What do you feel you have enough of in life? What do you want more of? Less of?
I think my life has more then enough stress and worry and I want more relaxing happy moments.

How “blended” is your family? Are you still with the dad(s) of your kid(s)? Who has whose last name in the family?
I am not with Malik’s father, however we maintain a really good friendship (most of the time) which allows him to see Malik everyday. Malik has his last name.

What are some of your big pet peeves? People who use slang to much, when people can’t separate church from politics.

What are the most unique things about yourself?
I consider myself unique in the way that I don’t follow the beaten path and I am not afraid to voice an opinion thats unpopular.

And finally, what’s your writing/blogging history and style? I use to write almost every day before I had Malik, and I considered it actually really great writing. I would write poetry, short stories or just journal entries, but since he was born I have had no urge to write until recently and I am having a hard time tapping back into it.

Meet the Bloggers: Jessica

December 1st, 2008

Blogging Mommy is… Jessica
Her kiddo(s) is/are…Austin & Ethan
Her location is…Erie, PA

How old are you now and how old is/are your munchkin(s)?

I turned 23 two weeks ago. Austin turned 2 years old the day before my birthday and Ethan J is 14 months today!

If you could describe your child in 3 words, what would they be?

     Austin: intelligent, active, loving

Ethan: happy, outgoing…I’ll say loving again 🙂

What’s an average day like for you these days?

I’m most likely at home with my boys, just hanging out. I am fortunate to have to go to work very little. I teach two classes at a local school, and am able to do all of my prep/lesson planning/grading/etc. from home, so it only takes me out of the house about 8 hours a week.

We are involved in a playgroup and regulars at a few toddler activities at our library, but spend most of our time at home sweet home (and the nearby playground!). The boys love being outdoors, and we still try to get outside at least once a day now that winter is here. As they are getting older I am able to try more and more things with them and a new favorite is now playdough. Other than that they tend to just follow me around the house and “help” me cook and clean, or play together with some of their millions of toys.

If you had a day all to yourself (kid-free & lottery-financed), how would you spend it?

Honestly? I would probably just sleep and take a bath, order some food in and sleep some more! Stretch out all ALONE in my own bed *sigh* Maybe watch something besides Noggin! Maybe squeeze in some shopping since it’s not my money.

What would you say your parenting style is like?

Difficult to define! I feel that I borrow a lot from the ideas of attachment parenting, but I can identify with many other ideas as well. I am there for my children whenever possible in every sense. I try to respect them as people. As far as “discipline” I use only positive reinforcements, don’t use time outs, etc. and do my best not to raise my voice.

Above all I strive every day to be a wonderful mother. I do everything in my power to keep my kids safe, healthy and happy. I make sure they feel loved unconditionally and am teaching them to be loving individuals at the same time.

What do you feel you have enough of in life? What do you want more of? Less of?

I have enough…bills? LOL. I have enough of everything I suppose. I am truly blessed and very fortunate. I have been working hard to always be content with what I have.

I would LOVE more children, and less drama so we’ll see what happens!

How “blended” is your family? Are you still with the dad(s) of your kid(s)? Who has whose last name in the family?

I would say … not very blended. I am married to the father of both of my children. Although things between us are not picture perfect at the moment, we are in a relationship and working hard towards a healthy marriage. We truly love each other and he is a wonderful dad to the boys. Now if only he would grow up and get his shit together. Just kidding. Sort of. We all share the same last name.

What are some of your big pet peeves?

I have so many many many. I am a (slowly) recovering perfectionist/control freak so everything is a potential annoyance. Seriously, I won’t even start.
What are the most unique things about yourself?

Umm…nothing. I’m really not a very interesting person at all. The thing that’s most special about me is my children.

And finally, what’s your writing/blogging history and style?

I love to write. I started writing short stories, poems, etc. in grade school. I wrote for the school newspaper in high school/college and actually (don’t make fun of me!) didn’t mind writing book reports, research papers, essays, etc. It’s a hobby that I pretty much let go after leaving school for lack of time, but I have been blogging occassionally for about a year now. I don’t know that I have a writing “style.” I guess casual…I type as I think and it’s not always organized or logical or punctuated, etc.
