Blogging Mommy is… Jennifer

My brother & i

Her kiddo is… Hailey
Hailey 2 months

Her location is… Montreal, Quebec, Canada

How old are you now and how old is/are your munchkin(s)?
I turned 22 on August 9th, and my daughter was born on august 30th and that makes her 3 months old.

If you could describe your child in 3 words, what would they be?  happy, intelligent and beautiful.

What’s an average day like for you these days? I wake up between 8 and 10 depending on when hailey starts tossing around. (she sleeps in my bed) We play for a little while in bed until she starts getting grumpy cause shes hungry. Then she eats, we play, she falls asleep and thats pretty much repeated all day with a bunch of diaper changes until its bed time. I try to get her to bed around 8:30 but that just about always fails. Usually she starts getting tired whiney around 9 and if i dont manage to get her to fall asleep quickly enough then she’s up and whiney until whenever she gets exhausted enough which is usually between 11 and 1am. Sometimes she wakes up for a quick feed around 5am but thats been happening less often now.

If you had a day all to yourself (kid-free & lottery-financed), how would you spend it? I’d go shopping in the morning and id probably end up buying more stuff for my daughter then myself. (i seriously cannot enter a store that has toys/baby clothes without getting her something) In the afternoon id go get a massage and facial with my mom and sister. Id take my whole family out for supper at a super nice restaurant, and then id rent out a movie theater so we can watch a movie at the theater without having to listen to ppl talk and cell phones go off. After that i’d probably want to go get my daughter as quick as possible because i have a hard time leaving her for a few hours, i dont think i could handle a whole day! (though i guess that might change when she gets a bit older)

What would you say your parenting style is like?  So far, i think i’ve been pretty easy going. I go nuts though when random ppl touch her, i absolutly hate when a total stranger passes by and either touches her face or grabs her hands. (she just about is always sucking on her fingers) She’s been breast fed since she was a little over a day old. (i couldnt at the begining because of some meds i was on and i couldnt move my arms) She eats a bit of rice cereal every morning, i don’t necessarily believe that food should be put off until 6 months. She had just about all the signs that she was ready to eat at around 2 months old. (it gets pretty hard to breast feed her sometimes because she always wants to stop eating to chat & she doesn’t push the food out of her mouth with her tongue) She wears cloth diapers most of the time and i absolutly love them. The times she doesnt wear them is because i was too lazy/tired to wash them the previous day. I don’t believe in spankings in my opinion its too easy to get carried away, and also too easy to take it a step above just spanking. Hopefully she will be able to learn through positive reinforcement and time outs.

What do you feel you have enough of in life? What do you want more of? Less of? I definitly have enough love and support. I wish i could have a tiny bit more money and another baby someday. and sometimes i wish i had less responsibilities.

How “blended” is your family? Are you still with the dad(s) of your kid(s)? Who has whose last name in the family? I’m still with Haileys dad but he lives in the states and i live in canada so its pretty complicated. She has his last name.

What are some of your big pet peeves? People who drive like idiots and ppl who park on the sidewalk. seriously makes no sense to me that they think its okay for them to do that! oohh and ppl who are always late.

What are the most unique things about yourself? I seem to like complicated things. I put everyones feelings and needs before mine. and i have no more gallbladder!

And finally, what’s your writing/blogging history and style? Throughout most of highschool some friends and i had a blog. We’d make stories with pictures, write about our lives. Was lots of fun. I have a pretty bad writing style, i make a ton of run on sentances, use crappy punctuations, dont use capital letters, im probably a grammar freaks nightmare, sometimes i write stuff that makes no sense to anyone but me, but i get to blame all that on the fact that im french.

Meet the bloggers: Andrea

December 1st, 2008

Blogging Mommy is… Andrea
Her kiddo(s) is/are… Malik and unborn baby
Her location is…
Montana

How old are you now and how old is/are your munchkin(s)? I am 18, Malik will be 3 in a month and I am 15 weeks pregnant with baby #2

If you could describe your child in 3 words, what would they be? intelligent, unique, exhausting

What’s an average day like for you these days? For the moment our days are filled with nothing but hanging out together at home. We are waiting for tons of appointments to come up and until then we have nothing going on.

If you had a day all to yourself (kid-free & lottery-financed), how would you spend it?
Three words. Shopping, shopping, shopping.

What would you say your parenting style is like?
I would say I am really strict about specific health related things, nutrition for example is something I go crazy over. My son has never had pop, fast food or any junk.

What do you feel you have enough of in life? What do you want more of? Less of?
I think my life has more then enough stress and worry and I want more relaxing happy moments.

How “blended” is your family? Are you still with the dad(s) of your kid(s)? Who has whose last name in the family?
I am not with Malik’s father, however we maintain a really good friendship (most of the time) which allows him to see Malik everyday. Malik has his last name.

What are some of your big pet peeves? People who use slang to much, when people can’t separate church from politics.

What are the most unique things about yourself?
I consider myself unique in the way that I don’t follow the beaten path and I am not afraid to voice an opinion thats unpopular.

And finally, what’s your writing/blogging history and style? I use to write almost every day before I had Malik, and I considered it actually really great writing. I would write poetry, short stories or just journal entries, but since he was born I have had no urge to write until recently and I am having a hard time tapping back into it.

Meet the Blogging Mommies: krismom

December 1st, 2008

Blogging Mommy is… Kris
Her kiddo(s) is/are… Harmony & Avery
Her location is… Ottawa (Canada’s capital)

How old are you now and how old is/are your munchkin(s)?

I’m 28. My daughter is 10 and my son is about to turn 4.

If you could describe your child in 3 words, what would they be?

Harmony: intelligent, determined, complex

Avery: curious, busy!!, munchable

What’s an average day like for you these days?

Right now I’m on disability, so I’m just hanging out at home unless I’m at the Dr.s or at chiro. When I’m working, we all head out the door together early but then we all get home early too (around 4:30) which is nice. I try to keep on top with as much as I can around the house and have tons of online projects to keep my mind occupied!

If you had a day all to yourself (kid-free & lottery-financed), how would you spend it?

I don’t think there are any scrapbooking spas out there, so I would have to invent one and spend the day there once it’s built. 😛 I would sleep in just a bit, have breakfast in bed, then spend some time hanging out in the hottub, get a massage (a real one, not a treatment one), have lunch, do tons of scrapbooking with friends, then have a delicious dinner with my hubby and watch a movie together.

What would you say your parenting style is like?

Loving but firm. I did/do practice some components of Attachment Parenting (baby-wearing, extended nursing), but tend to be a little more strict.

What do you feel you have enough of in life? What do you want more of? Less of?

My little family is wonderful, I feel it’s complete for me. I’d wanted more kids and would love another two, but the two I have are blessings. I feel satisfied when it comes to our lifestyle – we don’t live extravagantly but we meet our needs without difficulty and get to enjoy the occasional treat. I want more space though, our house is very small. And I would like less pain, I have been struggling with off-and-on pain for 8 years (since my 1st car accident) and with near-constant pain for 8 months.

How “blended” is your family? Are you still with the dad(s) of your kid(s)? Who has whose last name in the family?

I was back-and-forth with my DD’s dad a few times before we broke it off for keeps. As a single mom, I dated a little, and eventually discovered the love of my life had been right there the whole time as my friend!! Paul and I got married when DD was 4 and went on to have a son of our own. Since I gave my daughter my last name, my husband took that name when we got married and then we gave it to our son.

What are some of your big pet peeves?

Bad drivers (since I’ve been hit twice by careless drivers)!!! Ignorance. And I reeeeeally hate it when people say “gender” when they mean “sex” (like finding out the sex of the baby halfway through the pregnancy, for example!)
What are the most unique things about yourself?

I’m a natural redhead, a good singer, and I’m not straight.
And finally, what’s your writing/blogging history and style?

I’ve been writing since I was a young kid (started churning out stories and novels before I hit 10) and have been keeping a diary since then as well. I started blogging around 2003. My writing style tends to lean towards the academic (hard to push those university-drilled-into-your-head habits to the side!), but I try not to be *too* boring or babbling. 😛
